Dear April Medibroker Friend

Welcome to your March 2011 edition of the April Medibroker Newsletter where you will find the latest news, views and expatriate insurance providers features.

The majority of expats believe they have a better quality of life with higher salaries, more family time and less stress, according to a new global survey, which goes on to suggest that only 19% of expats say they will return to their home country compared to 26% in 2008 and 89% believe they enjoy a better quality of life abroad. Some 90% say they are financially secure and expat salaries are on average 20% higher.

Working hours are far less intensive and expats say they manage to achieve a better work/ life balance with much more family time, the research also shows.

The feel good factor is further reinforced as the vast majority of expats sampled over the past three years have achieved their ambition of a better quality of life and their experience has far exceeded their expectations.

Also making the news this month are John Lewis, the popular British department store which is extending into more countries where there are large expat populations to offer them online options and will deliver to 27 countries by August including the US, New Zealand and Australia.

None of our advisors are paid commission so you can rest assured that the advice that you receive is what is best for you, not what is best for them! Best of all it doesn't cost you anything!

Kind Regards,

Andrew Wilson, CEO

#Life as an Expat - Individual - Groups & Companies.

Expats’ needs are changing as assignments become more challenging and move farther afield.

Gone are the days where a one size fits all style expat medical plan will suffice. Expats need choice and flexibility of cover and in many cases they are now looking for protection over and above that of traditional in-patient and out-patient costs.

Expats' face a number of potentially expensive challenges including the potential for life threatening illness or a serious accident that may require expatriation back to their home country.

Almost half of companies who send staff abroad to work fail to conduct a full health assessment of the destination and many don’t organise immunisation programmes, a recent survey has claimed.

The result is that expats are often left in the dark over where to turn for health advice and many not have sufficient health cover.

The survey also found that some 20% of companies that send employees abroad for prolonged periods of six months or more fail to provide them with international health insurance and 48% of companies neglect to conduct full health assessments of the destinations they send staff to.

Expat employees in most companies are often highly skilled and well paid and are worth looking after.
