Dear April Medibroker Friend
Welcome to your February edition of the April Medibroker Newsletter 2011 where you will find the latest news, views and expatriate insurance providers features.
A recent survey of expatriates in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates, suggests the job market in the Gulf region is improving despite the global economic slowdown and average pay rises have exceeded the increase in the cost of living for the first time it also found that there has also been a gradual move in the region towards greater legal rights and protection for employees. Many foreign workers have seen an improvement in their quality of life and saving potential particularly in Dubai and Doha where rents have fallen by over 30%, the survey has found.
Also making the news this month proposals to change French wealth tax could attract British expats to the country as they face higher taxes and years of austerity in the UK.
There are already 135,000 Brits registered to pay tax in France according to the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies in France. But according to the British Consul this number may be closer to 500,000 since many expats have not registered for tax.
None of our advisors are paid commission so you can rest assured that the advice that you receive is what is best for you, not what is best for them! Best of all it doesn't cost you anything!
Kind Regards,

Andrew Wilson, CEO April Medibroker

Life as an Expat - A Women's Point of View
Many female expats undertake a move as part of their partner being posted abroad through their employment. As such, they often have to assume full responsibility to set up their family and their partner in their new home and are often the one making the majority of the arrangements prior to move and once they’ve arrived.
This extra strain can explain the fact that women may well miss their friends and family more once they move and highlight their desire to re-establish a new life fairly quickly. Emotive concerns such as re-establishing a social life (41%), feeling lonely and missing friends and family (34%) were the top worries amongst expats ahead of relocation.
Nearly half of female expats surveyed (48%) admitted concerns about re-establishing their life in their new country ahead of relocation, compared to only 37% of men. Meanwhile 44% of female expats shared concerns about missing their friends and family, compared to less than one third (29%) of men.
